What follows is all about each of us seeing the mistaken, failed methods of human bullies and parasites—and the kinds of bad leadership and immoral values we’ve had imposed on us. They couldn’t and didn’t work. Many people were exploited to subsidize a few, and this unbalanced and ugly social order was dressed up as productive and necessary. It is neither.
Once we have seen and fully grasped why those old and evil methods fail to make us prosper and thrive, trapping us in wasteful combat, then we can begin to see and be taught, to be trained up, in the “how to” of replacing exploitation with mutual care: in our country, in our world, in our whole human family. Mutual care is, finally, the solution. Not just in some heady, moralizing theory, but in practical reality.
I suspect the insights I’ve gained aren’t unique. Many others, including you, have likely come to the same understandings. My contribution, perhaps, is in simply laying them out in an accessible form, one that might help others not quite there yet to look and see more fully—the whole jigsaw puzzle, complete—and then pass it on.
We’ll learn how to love and care for each other, with growing empathy for each other’s needs, and the patient, willing care required to meet them. We’ll learn how to identify and resist exploitation, and replace it with mutual care for each other.
Regardless of which political parties you belong to, which religions or philosophies inspire you, in the end we must all see that there is but one solution that meets all of our needs, and protects all of our rights: MUTUAL CARE. Let’s make it our relentless moral code and method.
